Home Diagnostics, Inc. based in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, since 1985, is one of the leading providers of diabetes products to retail pharmacy, mail service home medical and the durable medical marketplace. HDI also works closely with hospitals and long-term care facilities to help them more affordably monitor and manage their patients with diabetes.
The Electrical/Mechanical Technician is responsible to perform various equipment prototyping fabrications, testing, and materials ordering. This includes design of new components and modification of existing designs as required. This individual is responsible for upgrades, repairs, and maintenance for all existing and new manufacturing equipment. The candidate must be detail oriented and able to manage multiple projects concurrently. This person must be very results oriented and be able to perform independently or as a team member under restrictive timeframes.
Job Duties:
- Has the knowledge of how different automation devices work and are integrated
- Ability to read and generate electrical and mechanical drawings by using AutoCAD or Solidworks
- Ability to remove and replace mechanical assemblies with little or no supervision and understand their basic operation and application
- Parts inspection and mechanical testing of both prototype and production assemblies
- Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances
- Must be able to modify machinery for specific applications; and be able to design replacement parts or devices on machinery
- Must be able to fabricate control systems panels, program the devices on the panel, and install and debug on the required processes
- Ability to operate machine shop equipment such as: Lathe, Milling machine, Drill press, etc. to perform prototype, and production equipment fabrications
- Proven ability to troubleshoot Motion Control Circuits, PLC 's, AC and DC drives
- Must be able to apply basic electrical theory to solve problems on prototype electrical circuits
- Apply basic mechanical, electrical, and controls theory to troubleshoot and repair equipment
- Has the ability to direct internal and external resources to completed assigned projects timely
- Accountable for maintenance, optimization and installation of various types of automation devices that are used in packaging, process and plant operations
- Travel, overtime, and some flexible scheduling are required to meet the demands of this position

Education and/or Experience:
- Associate degree in technical school, Bachelor's degree, or at least 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
