Job description: SUMMARY:

Due to our continued growth and customer demand we are currently recruiting for a qualified, interested and available Product Line Manager I for an opportunity in our Base Station Sub-Systems Group located in Richardson, Texas.

POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for the profitable growth of a single product line of RF products with current or anticipated sales potential of less than $50M. Strong emphasis on bringing new products and line extensions to market but also has overall product line management responsibility.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Through close contact with target market and customers, responsible for new product visioning and idea generation. Attends trade shows, reviews market / trade publications and interfaces with sales workforce. Participates in technology and product roadmap development. Develops business cases for new product development including financial evaluations (RR, ROI, OPP, Cost), competitive and market analyses, customer needs, critical success factors, sales justifications, and other business case components. Defines target markets / customers and product positioning.
• Prepares and gives group presentations to management on marketing and sales strategies and proposed new product development. Initiates, manages and tracks products through the development cycle. Develops product definition including price, cost and performance objectives, reliability and functional features, manufacturability, and life cycle forecasts. Develops new production introduction plan.
• Responsible for the launch of new products. Initiates and participates in the development of all marketing collateral material. Establishes sales promotions and special incentive programs. Develops and conducts product, market and application training. Ensures successful transition to manufacturing. Supports sales through joint sales calls. Conducts product review meetings.
• Manages product line direction through ongoing assessment of current products, pricing, and position. Ensures all goals and objectives are met by continually monitoring and reporting on trends, financial changes and other problem areas. Monitors profit and loss (P&L), evaluating, recommending and initiating cost reductions, discount analyses and inventory levels. Develops and evaluates opportunities for new products and / or line extensions. Identifies new target markets and related strategies.
• Works with factory to load forecast for manufacturing and inventory planning.

DECISIONS/PROBLEMS REFERRED TO SUPERVISOR:
• Decisions that could severely impact revenue, profitability, inventory and customer relationships

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• BS Engineering degree (Electrical, Mechanical or Industrial); MBA a plus; 5-10 years of product line experience in telecommunications or a related technical industry
• Good telecommunications industry knowledge, RF experience a plus.
• Experienced in conducting market research, developing market strategies, preparing strategic sales forecasts, preparing competitive analysis, positioning and differentiating products in the market, creating collateral and PowerPoint presentations, enthusiastically articulating market plans to customers and senior management, and creating and driving cost effective demand creation programs to achieve pricing and market share objectives;
• Knowledge of financial components of product and marketing management, including product contribution margins, profit and loss statements, budget processes, and return on investment calculations;
• Analytical and problem solving skills, and ability to articulate complex concepts to a broad range of internal and external audiences;
• Proven ability to effectively communicate with several types and levels of staff and external contacts, both in writing and verbally;
• Must have effective presentation skills;
• Ability to work simultaneously on many priorities, which change frequently;
• Assertive, persuasive and creative problem-solving skills;
• Demonstrated ability to lead and organize cross-functional meetings and committees; and
• Proficient use of word processing, spreadsheet, presentation and E-mail software.

EQUIPMENT OPERATION:
Personal computer and other conventional office equipment (e.g., copier, FAX, telephone, etc.)

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
• Travel to trade shows, customer sites, design centers and contract manufactures as needed.
• 20% - 25% travel required
