Job description
Job description: To function as the primary support person for CID at PETA headquarters
Job duties: *Answer incoming telephone calls (national and local) and retrieve and respond to e-mail inquiries
*Maintain the computer filing systems used by CID staff members to file correspondence, research, cases, and miscellaneous departmental information
*Maintain the database containing information for important contacts
*Prepare mailings and faxes, including preparing packages and completing appropriate shipping forms and in-house authorization forms
*Check the department's mail and fax boxes at least three times per day and distribute mail to and from the CID staff members
*Process check requests for bill payments and employee reimbursements and reconcile department credit-card statements
*Handle paging for the Community Animal Project (CAP) and check in surrendered animals, as needed
*Participate in CAP's emergency-pager rotation and respond to urgent calls, as needed
*Assist with setting up and caring for incoming animals who must be held and other animal care, as needed
*Assist with maintaining and stocking CAP's vehicles, exam room, warehouse, quarantine rooms, and related areas, including stocking cabinets and closets with necessary supplies
*Keep the CID office orderly, including the bookshelves, copier, printer and fax areas, file cabinets, and other common areas
*Perform euthanasia and emergency first-aid procedures for animals, as needed
*Liaise with off-site staff members, as needed
*Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor
Req. candidate profile : *Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
*Previous animal-handling experience and basic knowledge of feline and canine behavior preferred
*Ability to work flexible hours, including some weekends
*Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively over the phone, in writing, and in person
*Certification in animal euthanasia and drug use (training will be provided by PETA)
*Valid driver's license and a good driving record
*Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs. without assistance
*Commitment to the objectives of the organization
