Responsibilities:
The chosen candidate(s) will be responsible for conducting research in the NIH-funded laboratory of Dr. John Cowell, Associate Center Director for Basic Research of the MCG Cancer Center and Professor in the Department of Pathology. The basic and translational research focus of this laboratory includes Epigenetic mechanisms involving histone deacetylases and methyl transferases, heat shock proteins and their cancer and leukemia relevant client proteins, as well as transfection and functional analyses of genes regulating cell death/survival of human cancer cells.

| Req. candidate profile : |
Minimum qualifications:
The qualified candidate must possess a Ph.D. in Biology, Biological Sciences, Life Sciences or other related field; a proven interest in cancer research; excellent English skills (both written and verbal); and current U.S. work authorization. Also, competency in MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel and EndNote; ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, complete work and meet deadlines; must be detail-oriented, highly motivated, and committed to achieving excellence in the form of productivity and publications; willingness and ability to work with research animals.
Preferred:
Experience in molecular techniques for the analysis of gene expression including microarrays, chromatin immunoprecipitation, evaluation of protein biochemistry with 2D gels, animal models, the yeast-two-hybrid system, confocal microscopy and tissue culture is preferred.
