Job description
Job description: Flint Hills Resources is a Wichita, Kansas-based refining and chemicals company that is wholly owned by Koch Industries. A leading producer of fuels, base oils for lubricants, and other petrochemical and commodity products, Flint Hills Resources and its affiliates have refining complexes.

Responsibilities:

The Environmental Engineer is responsible for ensuring compliance for release Reporting and for Chemical Management. The Environmental Engineer also manages the C-Plan/ SPCC Environmental Compliance Systems.

Additional Environmental Engineer duties include:
  • Refinery Water Program, Ground Water Remediation, Waste Management Program, Technical Leader, and Environmental Team Member.
  • Tasks include maintaining Permit updates, certifications, data collection, record keeping; capable of implementing systems and tools to support compliance systems.
  • Supervise the Environmental Technician
  • Participate in the planning/development and support of projects at FHR Alaska sites.
  • Performing incident investigations
  • Sharing on-call duties with Environmental Department peers
Req. candidate profile : Requirements

Work Experience and Skills Required
  • One or more years experience with wastewater systems and oversite.
  • Advanced degree in Sciences may be substituted for experience.
  • 3-5 years experience in Environmental Engineering or a related field
  • Experience in General Environmental Areas, and Release Reporting Systems

Work Experience and Skills Preferred
  • Broad understanding of various Environmental disciplines
  • 5+ years experience with Environmental Air or Water Programs preferred
  • Petroleum Refining experience desired.
  • SARA, TSCA, C-Plan, SPCC
  • Familiar with Regulatory Structure / Process.
  • Emergency Response Team experience.

Education Required

Bachelor's Degree in Sciences

Education Preferred

Environmental, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering Degree.

Physical Requirements

Must be able to communicate freely and effectively via normal work place channels using phone, computer network, and direct means. Must be able to work effectively on computer for extended periods of time. Must have the ability to perform the essential physical duties of the position including, but not limited to: walking, seeing, hearing, lifting, bending, stretching, climbing, etc.
