The Occupational Therapist (OT) plans and conducts the occupational therapy activities to improve patient function and prevent disability following disease or injury. Helps patients reach maximum performance within the limits of his/her capabilities. The OT is active in department activities, transdisciplinary team activities, and LifeCare activities to ensure individualized, patient-centered health care for all patient populations admitted to LifeCare Hospital.
Essential Functions:
Demonstrates proper performance of skills reflected and validated by the Occupational Therapist competency checklist.
Completes documentation in a timely and efficient manner. This includes: assessments, reassessments, progress notes, discharge summaries, patient and family education, staffing sheets, and transdisciplinary plan of cares.
Participates in and is responsible for Occupational Therapy quality control and quality improvement activities.
Maintains standards of patient care by reviewing documentation written by COTA's in the medical record and by demonstrating the knowledge and skills necessary in providing care from the young adult to geriatric population.
Demonstrates the ability to maintain an appropriate patient caseload, effectively schedules patient's treatment sessions, and maintains patient's records and charge.
Performs initial assessments and develops a plan of care as needed.
Evaluates the patient's progress and modifies the plan of care as needed.

Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited school
Licensure/Certification:
Current license as an Occupational Therapist in state where currently practicing
