The primary responsibility of the instructor is to teach courses in mathematics
Participation in college-wide registration and advising
Preparation of class materials, adequate preparation for course instruction, and curriculum planning
Availability for student consultation outside of class on a daily basis
Maintenance of high expectations for students
A commitment to systematic classroom assessment and instructional improvement
Participation in college committee work and governance
Demonstration of student-centered values consistent with the community college philosophy
Orders necessary textbooks, audio-visual and other instructional equipment for all mathematics courses taught
Class scheduling, assessing and evaluating individual student progress
Maintaining student records, and referring students to other appropriate college staff as necessary.
Req. candidate profile :
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Master's degree in Mathematics or equivalent
Successful teaching experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Community college teaching experience
Experience or interest in using a variety of student-centered instructional and assessment techniques (e.g., portfolio, collaborative teaching and learning, interdisciplinary partnerships, computer-assisted instruction)
Experience or interest in curriculum development & assessment and outcomes-based learning
Experience with a variety of teaching modalities
Successful experience advising students, developing course materials, and schedules
Successful experience working with culturally and ethnically diverse populations
Commitment to the community college philosophy
Experience or interest in working in a mathematics laboratory
