The Legal Aid Bureau, Inc., established in 1911, is a private, non-profit law firm providing free legal services to low-income people throughout the state of Maryland. Legal Aid is an independent, 501(c)(3) charitable organization that receives funding from federal, state and local governments, United Way, foundations and other private contributors.
Legal Aid Bureau, Inc., is seeking a hands-on, dynamic, experienced, and versatile Accounting Manager. This is a key management position reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer of the organization.
Responsibilities:
The direction of the Chief Financial Officer, supervise and manage the financial accounting and reporting activities of the organization including cash and asset management, payroll, grant administration, budgeting, contract billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, cost allocation accounting, preparation of financial statements and financial management reports. Responsibilities also include managing payroll, assisting in the development of organization policies and procedures, suggesting cost savings initiatives, participating in special projects and providing ad hoc financial management reporting and analysis.

Qualifications:
The successful candidate will be a high-energy, detail oriented, highly organized, hands-on professional with the proven ability to handle multiple complex tasks in a deadline driven environment. Experience should include a proven and progressive track record of achievement, career development and success in prior roles. The position is full time and will remain posted until filled.
B.S. degree in accounting and 5+ years of related experience, including supervisory experience. Experience in a not-for-profit industry, or not-for-profit audit experience in public accounting, is a plus. The successful candidate will be a high-energy, detail oriented, highly organized, hands-on professional witht the proven ability to handle multiple complex tasks in a deadline driven environment. Experience should include a proven and progressive track record of achievement, career development and success in prior roles. Must possess the ability to work both independently and as an integral member of a team in a collaborative team environment.
