The Senior Accountant, reporting to the Controller and CFO, is primarily responsible for performing overall day-to-day management of general ledger to ensure the accuracy of the agencies’ financial records.
Responsibilities:
Manages the monthly financial closing process, including review of all journal entries posted to the general ledger
Performs general ledger and trial balance account analysis on a monthly basis, preparing journal entries as needed
Prepares expense allocations and import into MIP accounting software
Imports budget details into the MIP accounting software
Manages fixed assets, ensuring proper procedures around asset purchase and disposal
Prepares monthly bank and credit card statement reconciliations and quarterly investment account reconciliations
Serves as an expert and trainer in MIP, training all fiscal department personnel and executive users on the use of the accounting software
Oversee and maintain Accounts Payable and vendor details within MIP
Prepares year-end working papers for auditors
Maintains required contract forms in an organized file and submit to funding sources as required (i.e. Vendex, Certificates of Insurance, etc)
Assists with special project and performs other related duties as assigned by the Controller or CFO.
Req. candidate profile :
Qualifications:
BS in Accounting
5 years experience in not-for-profit
Excellent organization skills
Ability to be flexible and to adjust works schedule to reflect varying accounting deadlines
