| Job description: |
The Homeless Prenatal Program (HPP) reaches out to families, women who are pregnant, and parents providing them with prenatal and postpartum education and support, counseling, referrals for substance abuse, domestic violence, and housing as well as support services.
Responsibilities:
VITA Tax Program Duties (70 %):
- Schedule tax appointments for clients and respond to all client inquiries regarding taxes
- Coordinate, recruit, and schedule all VITA Volunteers- this includes training all volunteers in TaxWise Software and the Intake process.
- Prepare returns and transmit returns
- Represent HPP at VITA meetings and participate in bi-weekly coalition conference calls
- Sole responsibility in conducting the ITIN application process
- Submitting ITIN documentation to the IRS on behalf of the client
- Attend a VITA Training course in Tax Law, Taxwise Software, and ITIN’s
Housing Program Duties (30%):
- Ensure timely data entry to assist Housing Director in report preparation
- Management of data on excel
- Provide weekly housing workshops in Spanish and English
- Process Housing Deposit checks through HPP’s accounting system
- Provide assistance to on-call manager regarding housing cases

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or related field preferred
- Bilingual in Spanish and English
- Comfortable working with target population and within a diverse work environment
- Able to pass basic VITA examination
- Excellent communication skills
- Is compassionate and patient
- Self motivated and takes initiative
- Is comfortable working with minimal supervision
- Utilizes good judgment and critical thinking
- Is comfortable working in a fast paced environment
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, and QuickBooks preferred. Is comfortable navigating the internet for research, email, and retrieving resources.
- Knowledge of the non-profit landscape in SF preferred
- Knowledge of low income housing process in SF preferred
