Lawyers Alliance for New York is the leading provider of business and transactional legal services to nonprofit organizations that are working to improve the quality of life in New York City's low-income and disadvantaged communities.
Responsibilities:
The Director of Finance is responsible for:
- Maintaining the accounting records/general ledger for Lawyers Alliance;
- Preparing quarterly financial statements and analyzing operating results for the Executive Director, Treasurer, Finance Committee, and Board;
- Preparing comprehensive monthly cash flow projections;
- Assisting in the preparation of Lawyers Alliance annual operating budget, year-end outlook, and long-range financial projections;
- Staffing Lawyers Alliance's annual audit;
- Maintaining insurance coverage, including health and disability, general liability, professional liability, and directors and officers liability insurance policies;
- Administering Lawyers Alliance's payroll and pension plan;
- Monitoring Lawyers Alliance's investment portfolio;
- Overseeing the stability and the overall health of the organization's computer systems, telephone systems, and other technology;
- Supporting development team in the preparation of fundraising proposals and reports, providing budget and financial information as requested; and
- Maintaining personnel records and managing all employee benefits.

Qualifications:
The successful candidate will have at least 5 years experience working in finance in the nonprofit sector, including strong bookkeeping skills and knowledge of GAAP and FASB rules.
