New York Road Runners is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to promoting the sport of running for health, recreation, and competition. Founded in 1958 with a membership of 47, NYRR now has a full-time staff of more than 100 employees and a growing membership base of more than 40,000 members from every U.S. state and over 100 countries
Main Responsibilities:
The Accounting Clerk is responsible for assisting with data entry of payroll, cash receipts, adjusting entries, and cash disbursements. Additionally, this position will support the other departments in an effort to move projects forward.
The Accounting Clerk reports to the VP of Finance.
The Accounting Clerk will work closely with Vice President for Finance, the Finance Department, the Audit Committee and the Finance Committee who is charged with overseeing financial policy and investment strategy.
Responsible for the timely and accurate processing of refund transactions from various departments.
Thoroughly know the organization’s programs, sponsors, operations, structure and financial systems and understand how finance affects all segments of the organization.
Develop a solid working relationship with all members of the staff; create a collegial and supportive relationship.
Major Responsibilities:
- Process refunds from various Departments in an efficient and timely manner
- Submit weekly status reports on all projects to Director.
- Support Accounts Payable Manager
- Weekly credit card processing and data entry
- Assist in preparing and disbursing monthly reports
- Preparing basic account analysis of our balance sheet and income statement
- Support Payroll Manager
- Support Accounts Receivable
- Support Finance staff in day-to-day financial operations:
- Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Payroll
- Participate in the annual audit process.
- Prepare and or supervise tax reporting to the IRS and the State.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Participate in Key NYRR events (such as ING NYC Marathon and other weekly races) in areas that may fall outside core expertise.

Qualifications:
- Well organized and efficient, with ability to effectively manage multiple projects and work under tight deadlines.
- Team focus and the ability to relate to and work with diverse populations as well as the ability to work independently.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Computer skills required; including but not limited to: Excel, Power Point, Access and Word.
- Interest in sports in general and running is an advantage.
- Proven ability to work through change.
- Proven ability to work effectively and maintain positive, productive relations with colleagues, management, as well as financial institutions, sponsors/clients, independent auditors, vendors, and consultants.
- Knowledge of data processing and the operation of integrated information systems are essential.
- Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
