SAJE (Strategic Actions for a Just Economy) is a non-profit social justice organization that was established in 1996. The main purpose of the organization is to reduce economic inequality in Los Angeles and current work areas include tenant organizing, job development, and various efforts to ensure that development benefits (rather than harms) the community.
The Financial Administrator is responsible for the financial management of SAJE, is the organization’s Chief Financial Officer, and reports to the Executive Director. The Financial Administrator also consults with SAJE’s Management Team and supervises our Bookkeeper.
Responsibilities:
The Financial Administrator is responsible for the overall financial management and human resources of SAJE.
Financial Preparation and Management:
Develop budgets for SAJE grant proposals and complete all financial reports related to SAJE grants
Develop SAJE annual budget in conjunction with staff
File SAJE tax return and other required government financial reports
Manage fiscal sponsor relationships
Manage SAJE audit
Manage SAJE human resource systems (including payroll and staff evaluation process)
Training and Supervision:
Supervise SAJE bookkeeper which includes a monthly review of financials for accuracy and completeness
Provide support and training to our bookkeeper
Review and presentation of cash flow analysis
Train/coach key SAJE staff to understand budgets and financial reports
Update SAJE accounting and payroll software as necessary
Meet bi-weekly with the SAJE Financial Team
Present financial information at SAJE’s Board meetings
Other:
Review financials for the Figueroa Corridor Land Trust and Right to the City for accuracy and completeness and manage any related reviews or audits
Developing, recommending and implementing policies, procedures, and systems to support SAJE’s financial and human resources administration.
Other financial and administrative tasks as necessary
Req. candidate profile :
Qualifications:
CPA preferred, but not required
At least 5 years experience managing financial information for an organization with at least a $750,000 budget.
BA in Accounting
Staff supervision experience
Office management experience
Ability to communicate financial information to non-financial people.
Commitment to, and understanding of, SAJE’s mission for progressive social change and enthusiasm for SAJE’s work.
