Job description
Job description: The Director of Development, working closely with the Executive Director, is responsible for the strategic oversight, development, and implementation of a comprehensive fund development program that secures the financial resources needed to support the entire scope of the Feather River Land Trust’s work in the Feather River region of the Sierra Nevada. S/he will plan, design, implement, and analyze all fundraising activities, including major donor cultivation and solicitation, planned giving activities, direct mail, special appeals, membership program, grant program, donor research, and capital campaigns.

DUTIES:
  • Plan, design, implement, and analyze strategic fundraising activities to support the annual operations, programs, and long-term financial security needed to advance FRLT’s mission.
  • In cooperation with the Executive Director, board, and staff, build strong, long-term, effective relationships with donors. Ensure that donors can accomplish their charitable goals though advancing FRLT’s mission while building major gift potential over time.
  • Research, identify, cultivate, and solicit foundation, corporate, and individual donors.
  • Plan and oversee donor outreach efforts; tracking systems for pledges, gifts, and grants; as well as donor acknowledgement and recognition programs.
  • Work with the Executive Director to prepare an annual budget for the fund development program.
  • Engage FRLT partners (governmental and non-governmental organizations) when appropriate in fundraising partnerships.
  • Oversee the membership development program, including developing a mailing schedule and writing renewal and appeal letters.
  • Design and implement a planned giving program.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of comprehensive fund development efforts that support the full scope of FRLT’s current and future programs.
  • Oversee the design, content, production, and use of all fundraising materials.
  • Coordinate the preparation and production of promotional, communication, and marketing materials (e.g., annual report, newsletters, appeal letters, and brochures).
  • Coordinate public outreach activities, including public relations, public speaking, promotions, and special events (e.g., major donor functions and member events/tours).
