Under the direct supervision of the Director of Operations & Unit Director, the Gang Prevention Coordinator will supervise, direct, and provide leadership for the Gang Prevention Through Targeted Outreach program. This includes program instruction, case management, administrative duties and coordination of services.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:
- Attend annual BGCA Gang Prevention Conference and other related trainings for certification
- Design and implement a series of events aimed at best enhancing relations between youth and community (i.e., police officers, community organizations, etc. in Durham;
- Coordinate research materials and data collection to produce JABGC Annual outcomes report;
- Ensure that clear lines of communication are open between agencies and organizations providing volunteers to the project;
- Work with Development Department and Outreach to enhance the projects’ media and outreach strategies;
- Provide training and education on the Gang Prevention project to the community including police, civic groups, businesses, and others;
- Responsible for all reporting requirements related to grants for project (i.e. OJJDP)

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Provide leadership for the program including outreach, marketing, and program delivery.
- Recruit, train and supervise support staff for this program.
- Develops a resource network to support this program.
- Develops systems and best practices to ensure the quality of the program.
- Provide case management for youth/teens in the program.
- Coordinate services with other organizations to optimize participants’ experience.
- Responsible for delivering programs and services in related Club program areas.
- Responsible for all administrative functions involving this program including data collection and reporting.
Additional Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree preferred. Relevant experience can substitute;
- Strong leadership skills, organization, facilitation, presentation, and interpersonal skills
- Must have experience working with youth from diverse communities
- Bi-lingual/bi-cultural a plus
- Comfortable with writing skills
- Computer experience in the following software is required: Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook and Access.
