The Director of Membership and Development reports to the president and CEO of NHC, works closely with the executive director of the Center, serves as a member of the management team, works directly with individual Board members and program staff as needed, and supervises the Development Associate.
Main Responsibilities:
- Design, manage, and monitor all activities of the development and membership department including the day-to-day operations and implementation of overall development plans and budgets.
- Expand and oversee NHC’s membership program, including directly cultivating and soliciting prospects.
- Create fundraising strategies and develop annual and long-term income goals for the organization in consultation with the CEO, Executive Director, and Board.
- Serve as a member of the management team.
- Assist with the design, work plan, and goals for NHC and Center fundraising events, securing major sponsors and creating plans for follow-up with donors and prospects.
- Ensure the overall quality of development and membership marketing materials.
- Train or assist the staff, Board, and volunteers in successfully raising funds.
- Ensure the organizations capture and organizes donor data and information efficiently and expertly.

Skills and Qualifications:
- Minimum of five years of experience directing development and membership efforts in a non-profit organization and strong management experience.
- An innovative strategic thinker with demonstrated success in the creation and implementation of development strategies.
- Demonstrated track record in designing and leading membership programs; strong experience/track record in ‘making the ask’.
- Experience designing and managing fundraising activities to complement events, briefings, conferences.
- Experience and track record in raising funds from corporations and foundations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, planning capabilities, and attention to detail.
- Strong commitment to NHC’s mission.
