Job description
Job description: The Director of Membership and Development reports to the president and CEO of NHC, works closely with the executive director of the Center, serves as a member of the management team, works directly with individual Board members and program staff as needed, and supervises the Development Associate.


Main Responsibilities:
  • Design, manage, and monitor all activities of the development and membership department including the day-to-day operations and implementation of overall development plans and budgets.
  • Expand and oversee NHC’s membership program, including directly cultivating and soliciting prospects.
  • Create fundraising strategies and develop annual and long-term income goals for the organization in consultation with the CEO, Executive Director, and Board.
  • Serve as a member of the management team.
  • Assist with the design, work plan, and goals for NHC and Center fundraising events, securing major sponsors and creating plans for follow-up with donors and prospects.
  • Ensure the overall quality of development and membership marketing materials.
  • Train or assist the staff, Board, and volunteers in successfully raising funds.
  • Ensure the organizations capture and organizes donor data and information efficiently and expertly.
Req. candidate profile : Skills and Qualifications:
  • Minimum of five years of experience directing development and membership efforts in a non-profit organization and strong management experience.
  • An innovative strategic thinker with demonstrated success in the creation and implementation of development strategies.
  • Demonstrated track record in designing and leading membership programs; strong experience/track record in ‘making the ask’.
  • Experience designing and managing fundraising activities to complement events, briefings, conferences.
  • Experience and track record in raising funds from corporations and foundations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, planning capabilities, and attention to detail.
  • Strong commitment to NHC’s mission.
