NISGUA (the Network in Solidarity with the People of Guatemala) seeks a part-time (10-15 hours a week) Finance and Operations Manager for our Oakland office to administer financial transactions, keep QuickBooks up-to-date, offer operations and logistical support to fundraising work such as annual calendar sales, and manage human resource operations (such as payroll, emergency contact list for staff, 990 filings, etc).
Responsibilities:
- Administer all NISGUA’s financial transactions, including depositing checks, processing credit card payments, bill-pay, dispersing and tracking foundation funds, petty cash, travel funds for staff, wires to the Guatemala office, etc.
- Manage QuickBooks and keep accounting up-to-date
- Process monthly payroll for staff and interface with payroll vendor
- Maintain financial and other operations files
- Coordinate with staff regarding use of funds for program work, including tours and trainings; collect receipts and provide tour/training financial reports
- Coordinate with the ED to help her prepare quarterly financial reports to the Board
- Prepare federal and state non-profit tax forms (990 and 199)
- Order office supplies (with help from other staff)
- Provide other general operations support as needed

Qualifications:
The Ideal Candidate Will Have the Following Qualifications:
- Proven accounting/bookkeeping abilities
- Experience using QuickBooks (preferably, you really like QuickBooks!)
- Experience with non-profit accounting strongly preferred
- Careful attention to detail and highly organized (you’re the kind of person who always makes a list and checks it twice, and you always know exactly where everything is on your desk, in a file, or where you wrote it down in your notebook…)
- A deep fondness for Excel spreadsheets (or at least you’re really good with Excel)
- Experience with non-profit human resource operations
- Strengths with logistics and operations
- Desire to be part of a small-but-growing organization where employees work together as a team and people “wear many hats”
- Commitment to the mission of NISGUA and to working for justice in Guatemala
- Desire to work alongside nice people, share frequent laughs with them, and sometimes eat lunch together
- Conversational Spanish would be great; fluent English is a must.
