Provide Orion-related materials development and qualification support to NASA Marshall Space Flight Center's Ceramics & Ablatives Engineering Team, relative to the service module engine nozzle extension, if applicable, launch-abort system motor nozzles, including the abort motor, attitude control motor, and jettison motor. Also provide materials development and qualification support for thermal protection systems as required for the service module, crew module and launch-abort system.
Job duties:
BS degree in Materials or Chemical Engineering or related field from an ABET accredited institution with a minimum of 1 year applicable experience is required. Experience with high temperature ceramic and/or carbon materials, even if they are monolithic materials is desired. Experience working with the test methods and techniques applicable to characterizing and testing both coupons and components fabricated from such types of high temperature materials is also desired.
