Conduct material tests in either high pressure or cryogenic environments to support Space Shuttle and Constellation vehicles. Interface with customers to determine material testing needs. Develop test plans/matrices to generate material data to support flight hardware and provide design data. Design test fixturing and specimens to perform standard and non standard material tests. Modify, design and build high pressure and/or cryogenic systems to meet testing requirements. Obtain safety approval and certification for test systems. Develop written technical reports to present data.
Job duties:
BS degree in Mechanical, Metallurgical, Materials or Aerospace Engineering or related field from an ABET accredited institution with a minimum of 1 year applicable experience is required. Experience in material testing, high pressure, cryogenic, or hydrogen systems is desired. Working knowledge of MTS or Instron test systems is preferred. Experience working with load cells, extensometers, pressure transducers, strain gauges, data acquisition systems, Solid Edge is preferred. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, strong team commitment, and customer relations skills is required. Experience with CAD and Microsoft office required.
