Provide engineering support for activities required in the design, development, testing, and verification of aerospace launch vehicles and spacecraft. Duties include monitoring and integrating the Ares I Vehicle in one or more of the following discipline areas: Structural & Thermal Design, Avionics Design, Propulsion System Design, Vehicle Flight Mechanics, and/or Operations; ensuring the successful integration of requirements with the overall vehicle design to ensure the integrated design capability to meet the mission and project requirements set; identifying and recommending independent analysis or advanced development activities for risk reduction and/or technology development.
Job duties:
BS degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Aerospace Engineering or related field from an ABET accredited institution with a minimum of 3 years applicable experience is required. Experience performing system level analysis and design integration across multiple disciplines and subsystems is required. Specific experience at the system level in the early design and development phase of the project life cycle is highly desired. Understanding interrelationships between structures, loads, vehicle dynamics, thermal design or flight mechanics is required. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required. Experience with Microsoft Office applications is required.
