Job description
Job description: Assist the Upper Stage RCS manager in the strategic and programmatic management of the RCS subsystem effort. Serve as a member of the RCS core programmatic team comprised of the Subsystem Manager, the Work Package Manager, the RCS Project Engineer, and the RCS Scheduler. As a member of the RCS core programmatic team, the RCS Project Engineer will assist with coordination and integration of out-year budget planning, current year Earned Value Management, and current year resource changes. Analyze data to determine if the schedule and budget have the proper timelines and if reallocation is necessary. Interact and integrate with the RCS engineering Integrated Product Team (IPT) to identify areas of need and assist the Work Package Manager with Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and other document development. Coordinate RCS-related Change Requests (CRs) received from the Upper Stage Production Contractor (USPC) with Upper Stage Contracts, will draft Statement of Work modifications for accepted and approved USPC scope changes, and will track and status any USPC scope tasking changes and provide updates to the core RCS team. Act as the Risk Management Point of Contact (POC) and will brief the core team on risks and potential risks to the subsystem. Interact with IPT members, attend IPT meetings, and represent the project offices interests in those meetings providing budgetary and strategic direction to members outside the RCS core team.
Job duties: BS degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Systems Engineering or a related technical discipline from an ABET accredited institution and a minimum of 8 years applicable experience is required. Experience with programmatic planning and monitoring of technical, schedule, cost and risk parameters are required. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, written and verbal, are required. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required. An intermediate working knowledge of scheduling software tools such as MS Project is desired. A broad background with propulsion systems and working knowledge of launch vehicle Reaction Control Systems (RCS) design and requirement development are desired. Experience working within the NASA/DoD environment is strongly desired.
