The Connecticut Women’s Education and Legal Fund (CWEALF) is a statewide non-profit organization dedicated to empowering women, girls and their families to achieve equal opportunities in their personal and professional lives. CWEALF is looking for an experienced professional to provide community college students, specifically in allied health programs, with information and resources related to addressing legal issues and navigating social service systems.
Responsibilities:
Provide legal information and referrals (I&R) either in person or via the phone to community college students on family, employment, education and civil rights law
Create and conduct trainings on legal issues, including but not limited to sexual harassment and child support
Record data and document emerging client issues
Conduct advocacy for clients on social service and legal issues
Conduct general outreach and marketing on availability of services
Assist in report writing on impact and need for services
Represent agency at project planning meetings
Participate in Legal Education team activities and meetings
Participate in professional development and training activities.
Req. candidate profile :
Qualification:
Presentation/training experience
Advocacy experience
Knowledge of community resources (statewide helpful)
Experience working with people from diverse backgrounds
Strong communication, writing and listening skills (bilingual English/Spanish helpful)
