Job description
Job description: TreePeople's mission is to inspire the people of Los Angeles to take personal responsibility for the urban forest - educating, training, and supporting them as they plant and care for trees and improve the neighborhoods in which they live, learn, work, and play.

This position provides accounting support to the Executive Director and is responsible for the daily aspects of accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash receipts, payroll transactions and other related accounting work including billing and monitoring of grants and programs. Ability to work well with other department staff is required. Great opportunity for an individual with a strong desire to learn and advance in the areas of business and accounting.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Accounts payable, accounts receivable, pledges receivables
  • Overseeing outsourced payroll using ADP Pay expert software
  • Processing new employees (including providing new hire packets, setting up benefits and maintaining employee files, tracking sick, vacation and holiday time) 403(b) Administrator and COBRA Administrator
  • Bank reconciliations, development department reconciliation, and create monthly journal entries

Secondary Job Responsibilities:

  • Year-end and month end close
  • Assistance in financial statement preparation annual workers comp audit
  • Prepares and tracks monthly billing to various funding sources
  • Audit preparation for independent auditors.
  • Other duties assigned
Req. candidate profile : Qualifications:

  • BS/BA degree with accounting or related fields is required
  • Experience in Human Resources preferred
  • Knowledge and proficiency with Fundware accounting software and ADP Pay Expert Processing Software
  • Proficient in excel and ten-key. Completion of basic accounting course, interpersonal skills, and must be a quick learner
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and good organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment and to work on multiple items at the same time.
