Job description
Job description: The Retail Sales Associate, part-time, is responsible for the day-to-day operations of a council retail shop location in accordance with council shop objectives including sales goals and profitability plan that support the annual shop budget. Prepares marketing displays to support the annual merchandise and marketing plan of the council and assist in promoting and stimulating sales of Girl Scout merchandise while meeting the needs of girls, adult members, employed staff and visitors.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensures prompt and courteous service to shop customers; accurately processes sales.
  • Adheres to council policies and procedures for retail operations, including customer relation protocols.
  • Prepares marketing displays to support the annual merchandise and marketing plan of the council; assists in promoting and stimulating sales to help achieve budgeted sales.
  • Utilizes an integrated retail management system for sales, inventory control and reporting.
  • Assists the Retail Sales Assistant in determining adequate/appropriate stock levels for the shop location considering purchasing habits of customers, impact of marketing promotions, and seasonal and special needs of the customers.
  • Assists the Retail Sales Assistant in merchandising and restocking of products.
  • Develops and maintains an effective relationship with the Girl Scouts of the USA and outside vendors to keep abreast of product changes, current trends and pricing.
  • Provides professional, quality customer service to members, volunteers, staff, and other community contacts.
Req. candidate profile : Additional Qualifications:
  • Three years work experience in retail operations preferred.
  • Prior experience with retail management/inventory control systems.
  • Strong public relations skills.
  • Ability to plan, organize and prioritize work.
  • Ability to use sound judgment in decision-making.
  • Ability to adapt well to changing circumstances, direction and strategy.
  • Ability to communicate clearly orally and in writing.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Windows and Office software, a calculator and a copier.
