Sociedad Latina has been working in partnership with Latino youth to cultivate the next generation of leaders. With the support of families and the broader community, Sociedad Latina fulfills its critical mission by providing a broad array of programs that promote community leadership, civic engagement, meaningful employment, educational attainment, cultural identity and pride and the continuation of traditions.
Position Responsibilities:
Complete at least 1700 hours of documented service
Satisfactorily complete projects in assigned host organization, including but not limited to:
Develop an arts & cultural curriculum for girls ages 10-14 programming on Saturdays during the school year
Organize career exploration opportunities for mentees in the arts & cultural field
Evaluate and document methods of outreach to and support for middle school girls in program
Evaluate and document methods of increasing number of mentor-mentee matches
Recruitment of volunteer mentors & documentation of recruitment methods
Complete group projects to benefit the field of mentoring
Attend all Corps wide training and work sessions
Maintain a service Portfolio in connection to completion of the Non-Profit Leadership Development Certificate from Cambridge College
Complete all required AmeriCorps documentation.
Req. candidate profile :
Position Requirements:
BA/BS strongly preferred
Experience with and/or commitment to youth development
Interest in non profit organizations and their development
Excellent organization and communication skills
The ability to work independently and as part of a team
Proven leadership and project management abilities
Experience with or interest in working with arts & cultural topics
The desire to work with diverse people, organizations and communities
The passion to work with families, youth & children ages 6-21
