Job description: The Garment Industry Development Corporation (GIDC) is a non-profit consortium of business, labor and government providing marketing, education, training, and management services to New York apparel manufactures and workers. GIDC’s goal is to retain and create good jobs for New York workers.

The subcontractor’s Responsibilities are:
  • To develop and implement teaching curriculum
  • Provide all of their own teaching materials, which include teaching students the terminology for the fashion industry, as well as words and terms related to design, patternmaking and garment construction.
  • Some paperwork must be done during the academic year which helps us maintain necessary statistics and updates, that include maintaining accurate attendance records, intakes forms, pre and post assessment, and oversee and evaluate the work of students.
Req. candidate profile : Requirement:
  • Bachelors degree or above in Fashion or equivalent from a recognized academic institution.
  • At least 2 years of teaching experience in fashion field.
  • Fluent in English (2nd language skill is a plus)
  • Need to be very patient to deal with the students who speak very little English and have multi-cultural background.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in collaborative multi-cultural setting.
