The Executive Director is responsible for implementing the annual goals and objectives of the IWF Leadership Foundation (IWFLF) as determined by the Chief Executive Officer and Board of Directors. The ED carries executive responsibility for the development of the IWFLF.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the development and implementation of short and long range plans and policies and other activities.
- Responsible for financial data management including collaborating with the CEO on development and management of the annual budget.
- Assists the CEO in working with the President and Board of Directors in setting goals for the IWFLF.
- Responsible for collaborating with the CEO and in developing, implementing and achieving fulfillment of the annual business plan as approved by the Board of Directors.
- Responsible for serving as liaison with other organizations that are strategically aligned with the IWFLF in areas approved by the Board of Directors.
- Responsible for providing information, advice and counsel to the CEO, President, Board and Committees in the creation of policies, programs and strategic direction of the IWFLF.
- Responsible for support of activities associated with the Board of Directors including staffing for Board and Committee meetings, meeting schedules, locations, development of agenda, and meeting materials as pre-determined with the CEO.
- Responsible for overseeing and assisting with the staging of program content and delivery, including acquisition of mentors, speakers, trainers and facilitators and preparation of program/training materials, timed agendas, scripts, audio and visual supports, venue procurement, sub-contracting and on-site management.
- Responsible for administration of overall operation of the IWFLF, including: reviewing and evaluating the results of program activities, ensuring that continuing contractual obligations are being fulfilled; making recommendations for the allocation of resources for greater program effectiveness and efficiency; and developing organizational and administrative policies and program objectives in fulfilling the board approved annual plan.
- Responsible for collaborating with the marketing division on campaigns crafted to promote IWFLF initiatives, programs and funding campaigns.
- Responsible for liaising with the development division to increase government funding, foundation funding and corporate funding of IWFLF programs.
- Responsible for contributing to concept and copy development for funding campaigns and marketing campaigns designed to acquire support for the IWFLF’s endowment fund, operating fund, Fellows program and future activities.
- Responsible for representing the CEO in the community and with potential collaborative partners in promoting the work of the IWFLF.
- Responsible for the supervision of project staff.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Responsible for supervision of all assigned staff. Responsibilities include interviewing, recommendation for hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing of work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Qualification Requirements:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Education and Experience:
Attainment of an advanced degree in a related field and seven years of increasingly responsible executive experience, at least five of which shall have been in a supervisory capacity. Background in leadership development is preferred as is experience working in the international community.
Language Skills:
Effective communicator with both excellent oral and written presentation skills. Concise writer with strong critical analysis capabilities. Foreign language competency preferred.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to define problems, to research data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions; exhibit independent judgment in the development, implementation and evaluation of plans, procedures and policies; ability to recognize nuance and work with sensitivity in an international and cross cultural environment.
Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of the principles and techniques of grant writing, grant administration, the Foundation world, public funding, donor cultivation and development, contract administration and negotiation, constituency services, fiscal and organizational management, and the principles and practices of marketing and public relations.
Ability to plan, direct and coordinate activities; negotiate and administer contracts; maintain and cultivate strong working relationships with stakeholders, board members, leaders and principles who influence and partake in IWFLF programs.
