Job description
Job description: A prestigious Beacon Hill, Massachusetts based Nursery School seeks a Finance Manager as a full-time member of the team reporting to the Executive Director. The Beacon Hill Nursery School has a 50 year history of serving the community needs and enrolls 145 Students ages 2-5 yr olds with an annual budget in excess of $2M.

Responsibilities:

The position includes all the day-day accounting and bookkeeping functions including the monthly close process, financial statement preparation and budgeting process. Working directly with the Executive Director of the school, you will also develop and manage the annual budget for the school and gain insight into the inner working of a non profit. Key responsibilities are listed below:
  • Budgeting- planning and preparing the annual budget, monitoring budget for variances
  • Financial Reporting- preparing and consolidating financial statements with monthly financial reporting to the Executive Director and the Board of Directors
  • Bookkeeper responsibilities: preparing and collecting tuition bills, processing accounts payable and receivables, managing general ledger reconciliation as well as payroll processing, month end closings.
  • Audit- managing the annual audit process, and establishing and maintaining internal financial controls. Process IRS and other government filings.
  • HR Responsibilities- processing payroll, managing personnel files and HR benefits programs including health and life plans, vacation time, commuter program.
  • Fundraising and Endowment - processing annual appeal, auction and other fundraising income; monitoring and processing transactions in endowment accounts
Req. candidate profile : Qualifications:

Our ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting
  • Desire to make a difference
  • Five to 10 years of accounting experience
  • CPA a plus, not required
  • Deadline-driven
  • Proficiency in Quickbooks and Excel
  • Excellent attention to detail and communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively and cooperatively with administrative team
The position is for a full-time position but we can accommodate flexible weekly schedules for our desired candidate.
