Job description: NPower Seattle is a non-profit organization whose mission is to help other non-profits use technology to better serve their communities. NPower Seattle provides services to Washington state non-profits to assist them in planning for, implementing, and effectively employing technology tools to achieve their organizational goals.

The Director of Finance and Operations is responsible for overseeing general accounting, management accounting, budgeting, insurance & risk management, human resources, internal information technology and facilities.

Responsibilities:

Financial Management:

  • Provide oversight and planning for financial management including leading the annual budget process, managing the annual audit and ensuring effective reporting to the Board and funders.
  • Formulate and recommend future year budget and produce monthly reporting on the organization’s performance
  • Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements
  • Track current financial picture and produce end of year projections; modeling financial ramification of strategic options as necessary
  • Establish grant budgets and tracking mechanisms in order to maintain compliance with funding conditions
  • Create and maintain departmental budget, monthly dashboards and performance measurements
  • Lead the management of the Finance Committee including setting the schedule and the agenda and being the primary liaison to the Board Treasurer
  • Manage relationships with banking institution and lead investing & financing strategies
  • Draft and advise on accounting policies and procedures

Financial Administration:

  • Supervise Office Assistant
  • Ensure effective internal controls
  • Oversee monthly invoicing and monitor accounts receivable
  • Review accounts payable
  • Process payroll

Human Resources:

  • Oversee the execution of the human resource administration including recruitment, hiring, performance reviews, salary adjustments, merit increases
  • Oversee employee benefits processes including communication to employees, serving as liaison with providers, leading the annual renewal, researching new options, keeping accurate records, and supporting staff as needed
  • Advises ED on human resource strategies: roles and responsibilities and timing
  • Formulates and recommends changes or additions to personnel policies and procedures
  • Act as a resource for staff concerns and suggestions

Facilities Management & Internal Technology:

  • Oversee the relationship with the current building management including lease agreement, security and building safety.
  • Advise on facilities strategy and lead the process for any location changes
  • Lead technology strategy for internal tools and infrastructure needs

Other:

  • Support programs with reports and analysis as needed
  • Analyze and implement ideas for overall organizational efficiency and effective communication
  • Special projects as assigned by Executive Director
Req. candidate profile : Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years experience in a financial leadership role in organizations with at least a $2M budget
  • Minimum 3 years experience in nonprofit accounting and grants management
  • Analytical thinker with experience in financial modeling and strategic planning; proven desire to help organizations meet aggressive growth targets
  • Experienced user of QuickBooks and Excel
  • Proven success in building operational and financial management systems
  • Strong people management skills with clear coaching and creative problem solving abilities; proven ability to work collaboratively in cross-team environment
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively at all levels and to build and maintain strong internal and external customer relationships
  • Experience with HR systems, practices and procedures
  • Strong desire and ability to work in a diverse, team-centric goal-focused environment
  • Bachelors degree in applicable field; CPA preferred
