Job description
Job description: The Accounting Clerk is responsible for providing clerical support to the Controller for Voices For Children’s accounting operations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Generate reports such as accounts and pledges receivable, accounts payable, and office supplies inventory.
  • Coordinate reconciliation of year to date grant revenue and expenses data and prepare grant status reports as requested by Controller.
  • Assist Controller in maintaining current various grant revenues and expenditures schedules including tracking of funding by employee.
  • Reconcile bank accounts on a monthly basis.
  • Collect bi-weekly payroll data and prepare reports.
  • Ensure proper recording of monies as instructed by Controller.
  • Enter payables.
  • Prepare checks for disbursement.
  • Enter journal entries as directed by Controller.
  • Maintain all revenue and expenditure accounts as directed by Controller.
  • Ensure proper coding of revenue and expenditures as directed by Controller
  • Assist Controller with scheduling meetings, preparing agendas, and writing minutes.
  • Assist Controller in compiling financial information, work papers, reports, etc. for management and auditors.
  • Responsible for maintaining accurate and current filing systems, including but not limited to vendor files, work papers, payroll records, and other accounting related documents.
  • Responsible for various administrative tasks including but not limited to phone calls, answering emails and other assignment as assigned by Controller.
Req. candidate profile : Experience/Qualifications:

Minimum high school degree required, associate degree or college experience preferred. Office environment experience required. Prior bookkeeping experience preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is essential. Working knowledge of bookkeeping software, Microsoft Word and Outlook preferred. This individual must have a high aptitude for numbers, strong organizational skills, be detail oriented, work independently, and possess strong communication skills. Professional attitude and accountability for work required.
