Job description
Job description: The Women’s Funding Alliance (WFA) is the leading public foundation in the Puget Sound region focused on investing in the most socially and economically vulnerable women and girls.

The Finance and Administration Director is responsible for management and oversight of WFA’s operations, including budgeting and audit prep, financial planning and operational systems. This position will not do our bookkeeping, but will need to be able to analyze financial statements and create short and long-term financial plans.

Responsibilities:

Financial Management:

  • Develop and monitor proper internal controls and records. Make recommendations to executive director and/or finance committee for changes to policies
  • Oversee annual audit
  • Lead the budget development and monitoring process in cooperation with the executive director
  • Create long and short-term financial plans to guide decision making
  • Review monthly financial statements and update cash flow
  • Provide accurate, timely and complete financial data to stakeholders
  • Co-staff the finance committee and other finance/investment related ad hoc working groups, along with the executive director

Organizational Development and Human Resources:

  • Initiate, develop and maintain recordkeeping systems that will increase the efficiency and stability of the foundation.
  • Organize and update policies and procedures, make policy recommendations, make sure policies are legally sound.
  • Maintain personnel files; assist with staff recruitment and performance review design as needed.
  • Manage facility lease, all insurance policies and employee benefits including health insurance, disability insurance, and retirement accounts.
  • Keep the executive director informed of problems, concerns, and unusual situations as they impact agency activities and responsibilities.
  • Supervise the part-time office manager
  • Participate on the Executive Management Team

Technology:

  • Ensure that staff has the appropriate tools and technology to complete their work.
  • Provide strategic leadership on organizational technology systems and efficiencies.

Community Relations:

  • Represent WFA at community functions, as needed.
Req. candidate profile : Qualifications:

  • Ideal candidate is a dynamic professional who has a passion for and history of working with issues affecting women and girls.
  • She/he is a polished professional who will bring a highly developed set of financial and administrative skills
  • She/he must be highly detail-oriented and organized, and must be able to manage competing priorities.
  • The ideal candidate must also have a finance or business degree, be a self-starter who thrives in a growing organization and be able to move fluidly during change.
  • S/he must have experience building and managing budgets and forecasts, and must understand how to read and analyze financial statements.
  • Finally, in addition to the hard technical skills needed for this position, she/he must demonstrate a high level of emotional intelligence who values teamwork and collaboration in the pursuit of attaining ambitious and inspiring goals.

Specific Experience, and Skills Required:

  • A true passion for the work of Women’s Funding Alliance.
  • The commitment to help grow an emerging organization to the next level
  • A minimum of 3 years experience in a similar financial position with a non-profit organization
  • Excellent administrative and finance skills, understanding non-profit organizational tools and systems
  • Supervisory skills preferred
  • Computer competence
  • Excellent interpersonal, teamwork and diplomacy skills.
  • An ability to work flexible hours as necessary, including evenings for special events.
  • A great sense of humor and ability to be creative.
  • Sensitivity toward cultural, racial, ethnic, socio-economic, and sexual identity diversity.
