| Job description: |
The Jewish Community Center of the North Shore (JCCNS) Youth Director is responsible for providing overall planning, direction, supervision, and administration to the children and teen departments of the JCCNS.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
- Program Development
- Determine the needs of children and teens, identify the trends in the market, analyze the competition and recommend appropriate programs and classes.
- Develop and implement ongoing programs, classes, and events for children and teens.
- Develop the JCCNS Teen Center and Kids Corner room to be a place that is attractive to children, pre teens and teens and work to increase participation in programs through outreach and innovation.
- Integrate Jewish culture, values and traditions into programming when appropriate.
- Coordinate and implement birthday parties for children.
- Coordinate and implement vacation and holiday programs for children, pre teens and teens.
- Work with local youth groups to develop ongoing pre teen and teen programming at the JCCNS.
- Teach after school classes, when needed.
Administration and Supervision
- Oversee the Kids Corner after school program (grade K-5) and the JCCNS Teen Center (grade 6-12).
- Serve as consultant to JCCNS staff on the needs of the children, pre teens and teens.
- Work with director of marketing to publicize classes, programs, vacation programs, and events and submit appropriate information for JCCNS program guide.
- Prepare and monitor children and teen department budgets.
- Lead Kids Corner and Teen Center staff meetings and training sessions.
- Maintain and submit necessary records for the JCCNS and for State licensing office (EEC).
- Purchase supplies, equipment, and food and coordinate room scheduling and set-up for programs, when needed.
- Recruit and supervise part-time staff for classes and programs.
- Develop ongoing communication plan with parents.
- Attend JCCNS staff meetings and training sessions.
- Work with youth, teen and lay committees at the JCCNS and in the community
- Through quality customer service, work hard to build JCCNS member satisfaction and to encourage membership retention.
Summer Camp
- Work with camp directors to prepare for the summer camping season.
- Work full time at a JCCNS camp, in a senior position, over the summer.

Additional Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree with prior experience in the supervision, administration, and development of youth programs.
- Knowledge of Jewish culture and traditions.
- Detail oriented and well organized, with the ability to plan projects and activities several months in advance.
- Work in a team environment and build collaborative relationships with staff, parents and community partners.
- Flexible and able to handle multiple projects at the same time.
- Prior JCC or youth group experience helpful.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule.
