Job description: Under the general supervision of the Vice President, supervise accounting and human resources operations, implement and monitor systems and internal controls, prepare reports and provide assistance to the Vice President as required.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities:

Finance Functions:

  • Oversee daily operations of the Accounting Department. Plan, schedule and coordinate department work flow. Ensure that general ledger accounts are reconciled on a regular basis.
  • Participate in the selection, training and supervision of department staff; evaluate work performance and make recommendations for personnel actions.
  • Maintain general ledger and related financial records. Monitor accounting systems to ensure accurate recording of transactions; implement or change procedures as needed. Prepare financial reports and tax returns for review by Vice President.
  • Assist Vice President in the development of the annual operating budget. Review budget versus actual performance each fiscal period and identify areas of concern.
  • Ensure grant records are complete and that the institution is in compliance with granting agency guidelines. Prepare grant reports and forms as necessary.
  • In conjunction with year-end audit, coordinate closing of financial records, prepare workpapers and financial statements for review by auditors and serve as liaison with auditors.
  • Under own initiative, develop and implement methods for financial and workforce analysis pertaining to OSV’s various financial and staffing operations.
  • Interpret accounting policies and procedures and provide relevant information for management throughout the organization. Assist in the development of such policies and procedures.
  • Participate in long-range departmental planning.
  • Follow established procedures in the handling of cash, negotiables, and related records to safeguard OSV’s finances and ensure against loss.

Human Resources Functions:

  • Monitor HR systems to ensure accurate recording of transactions; implement or change procedures as needed.
  • Ensure proper compliance with labor laws and regulations administered by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and other federal and state government agencies
  • Responsible for benefit plan administration and proper maintenance of employee records

Overall organizational responsibilities

  • Participate in community affairs and job-related organizations
  • Provide the best experience possible for all visitors.
  • Ensure the safety and cleanliness of the work area and share responsibility with all staff for the clean and neat appearance of the entire museum.
Req. candidate profile : Qualifications:

Three to five years progressively responsible accounting and supervisory experience and/or training; experience in human resources administration and management; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Proficiency in the use of computer spreadsheets required.
