Action Against Hunger-USA is part of the Action Contre la Faim international network which provides humanitarian relief in 40 countries worldwide in the sectors of nutrition, health, water/sanitation, and food security. Action Against Hunger USA manages nearly $30 millions in programs, has twenty-five permanent staff based in NYC, over 70 international employees and 1,200 national employees in the missions.
Essential functions and responsibilities
The Comptroller serves as the chief accounting officer for the organization; he/she is responsible for the accurate and timely compilation of all organizational financial information.
The Comptroller oversees and manages all accounting aspects of the organization: he/she integrates financial management with operations by establishing appropriate policies and providing adequate financial systems, tools and training throughout the organization.
The Comptroller is responsible to compile annually, maintain and track the organization’s operating budget.
In collaboration with the Finance Director, the Comptroller provides strategic financial analysis and system input as needed across departments to improve organization effectiveness.
The Comptroller manages the accounting department in a manner consistent with organizational goals and objectives and good accounting practices.
The Comptroller oversees all applicable payroll reporting and tax payments, prepares all IRS and tax documents, works with auditors, banks, payroll companies, and federal and state tax agencies for the implementation of the tasks listed above.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Supervises the Senior Accountant and may manage 1 or 2 unpaid HQ staff

Required qualifications
•Bachelor degree in business, accounting or related field, CPA/MBA preferred
•Minimum of 10 years progressive managerial experience in financial management
•Demonstrated knowledge of governmental grant accounting with a working knowledge of OMB Circulars A-122, A-110 and A-133 circulars required, FAR and CAS desirable
•Knowledge of accounting for foreign exchange transactions
•Significant experience with automated business and financial systems, spreadsheets, word processing, database software is essential (Navision)(Jet Reports)
•Flexible work attitude: the ability to be flexible and yet focused and reliable in an environment of frequently changing demands
•Demonstrated ability to effectively use computer-based technology
•Fluent written and spoken English
•Authorization to work in the US if not US citizen
