Thinking Beyond Borders' mission is to create proactive agents of change by helping youth develop global consciousness and the skills to translate their learning into action. Beginning September 2008, TBB will provide educational Gap Year programs primarily to US students deferring their first year of university.
The "Educator -- International Program Staff" position is an individual who serves as part of a three person teaching team traveling with the student group for eight months. Together, these educators maintain the safety and health of each student, ensure the daily travel and program logistics are properly coordinated, and implement the service learning curriculum that follows the group throughout the experience. The educator guides students through personal and intellectual growth with goal setting and constant support.
Responsibilities:
Travel with the program group for 8 months, from early September to early May.
Protect the health and safety of the students at all times.
Work as part of a three person teaching team to implement a service learning curriculum.
Assist in coordinating daily logistics of travel and programming.
Mentor and counsel students through personal growth experiences.
Assist in the further development of the program design and curriculum.
Req. candidate profile :
Qualifications:
Masters degree in Education, International Development, Anthropology, or a related field.
Minimum of three years experience teaching in a classroom or alternative education setting.
Fluency in at least one language other than English that is spoken in the countries on the TBB itinerary.
