ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
The CDC’s Office of Community and Educational Partnerships (OCEP) oversees all educational partnerships for the agency and the delivery of resident programs for four large housing developments throughout Los Angeles County as well as manage the agency’s non-profit organization.
The Development Specialist III (DSIII) is a key member of the leadership team and will be responsible for resource development and marketing for OCEP. S/he will work on resource development and marketing related projects independently, meeting all required deadlines.
The DSIII will act as lead staff person on all resource development, planning, coordination and implementation including: researching funding opportunities, grant writing, foundation and donor relations. In addition, the DSIII will liaison with various internal and external sources to conduct presentations and share information. The DSIII will be responsible for program monitoring, evaluation and analysis; report preparation and delivery; writing letters to the Board of Supervisors, and external communications such as press releases and media advisories.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
The candidate must have an education or training equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year college or university and a minimum of two years of professional experience in development. Knowledge of the principles and practices of administration including research and statistical methodology, assessment and evaluation is essential. Must be computer literate and possess ability to use software including: Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, Access, and PowerPoint. Experience working within a social/human service agency is strongly desired.
Candidate should possess strong analytic verbal and written communication skills, be creative with strong interpersonal abilities to develop cooperative working relationships with staff, the public and other agencies. Must be able to independently perform assignments involving resource and fund development, collection and analysis of program and funding data; perform multiple assignments while maintaining attention to detail; and plan and carry out assignments with limited supervision. Working knowledge of the needs of low-income and/or public housing communities is highly desirable. Marketing and business development skills are also highly desirable.
