ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Will be responsible for coordinating and supporting the board, volunteers and staff to meet or exceed those fundraising goals, including all membership revenue goals associated with direct mail, e-appeal and membership event campaigns. Lead creation and implementation of fundraising strategy. Identify, cultivate, manage, steward, and track relationships with all donors and prospects including individuals, corporations, and foundations; including direct one-on-one donor and foundation solicitation in conjunction with the Executive Director, Common Cause NY Board and national development team; leverage the Executive Director’s time in cultivating high-potential donors and prospects. Will plan and implement reliable and proactive plans for the success of Common Cause New York’s annual I Love An Ethical New York Awards Reception, the organization’s top fundraising event, including planning, working with board volunteers, coordinating logistics, scripting speakers, identify honorees, etc. Will also develop small fund-raising events, Will stay current with prospect research resources and technologies and develop strategies to identify new prospects. Develop a detailed calendar of direct marketing and development activities and monitor calendar for status; coordinate member communications schedule with Associate Director. Work with the national administrative team to implement reliable and successful email marketing campaigns and e-appeal campaigns. Implement strategies to retain and upgrade current donors, and significantly expand the current membership base. Work with national team to track direct mail, e-appeals and other membership campaign performance indicating response rates, mean gift levels, cost per piece, and net revenue; and produce reports with this information on a timely basis. Prepare high-quality donor correspondence, proposals, grants, reports, mailings, and acknowledgements required to support ongoing fundraising activities.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum 3-5 years of development experience in an entrepreneurial nonprofit environment, experience with direct solicitation, event planning and coordination. Experience developing and cultivating individual, major donor, corporate and foundation relationships; a preexisting knowledge of the New York philanthropic community preferred Proven track record of success in implementing individual/major gifts programs and in event coordination. Experience managing and motivating high-level volunteers. Strong organizational, analytical, and time management skills with exceptional attention to detail. Excellent writing skills with demonstrated success in grant and proposal writing a plus. Must be flexible and have ability to work independently and as a team player. Experience with initiative taking and managing multiple tasks and projects. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
