Job description: SUMMARY:

Due to our continued growth and customer demand we are currently recruiting for a qualified, interested and available opportunity for a Principal Electrical Engineer in our Base Station Antennas Business Group located in Richardson, Texas.

KNOWLEDGE:
• Employs extensive expertise as a generalist or specialist. May be highly skilled in one field or have a general understanding of several fields. Requires the use of advanced techniques and the modification and extension of theories, precepts and practices of own field and related sciences or disciplines. Frequently contributes to the development of new theories and methods.

PROBLEM COMPLEXITY:
• Develops cost-effective solutions to highly technical complex problems that require a high level of creativity.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
• Applies intensive and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices in broad areas of assignments.
• Makes decisions independently on engineering problems and methods, and represents the organization to resolve important questions.
• Uses ingenuity and creativity to devise new approaches and develop solutions to complex problems without appreciable direction.
• Contributes to the development of new principles or concepts, new techniques or procedures. Assumes responsibility for a significant portion of a project.
• Performs digital/analog hardware engineering assignments that typically involve the design, development, evaluation, modification and analysis techniques resulting in new/updated components or products. Project areas may include digital design and hardware layout of controllers, actuators, embedded control modules, Smart Bias Tees, RF Filters, AC/DC Power Supplies, lightning protection circuitry, cable and connector and integrated electronics in antenna designs.
• Develops and executes product testing and integration plans for new/updated products.

FREEDOM TO ACT WITHIN TECHNICAL DISCIPLINE:
• Exerts significant latitude in determining objectives of assignments; Consults supervisor concerning unusual problems and developments; and
• Provides technical guidance to others.

IMPACT:
• Mentors other professionals. Guides, channels, facilitates and transfers knowledge of field to other professionals.

COMMUNICATION:
• Interacts with management and senior customer personnel on matters requiring coordination across organizational lines.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
• Possible travel to other Andrew locations

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in electrical engineering or related technical field;
• Ten (10) years of work experience in the digital/analog hardware design field;
• High speed digital design, microprocessor/microcontroller
• Analog design: RF filters, modulators/demodulators, AC/DC power supplies, lightning protection
• Must possess excellent oral, written and presentational skills;
• Demonstrated ability to regularly contact, influence and negotiate with both internal and external individuals on complex issues; and
• Must be able to respond to inquiries and complaints with tact and diplomacy.
