The Institute of International Education (IIE) is a world leader in the international exchange of people and ideas. As an organization devoted to opening minds to the world, IIE administers programs for students, educators, young professionals and trainees from all sectors.
The Student Exchanges department houses 10 divisions, both in the US and internationally, and an administrative budget exceeding $18 million. The Financial Analyst/ Grants Officer will assist the Director for Program Planning and Budget as well as the other Divisional Directors in all aspects of financial analysis and grants compliance. Responsibilities range from contractual compliance, financial analysis, financial reporting to assisting with budget preparation.
Responsibilities:
- Works with Director to provide ongoing financial and contractual support for the divisions and their individual programs.
- Regularly analyzes administrative and program expenses, seeing that adjustments are made as necessary, and ensuring that expenditures remain within budget and contractual limits. Assists with the monitoring of the fiscal status of each program and contract on a monthly basis.
- Assists Directors in developing tools for analysis and tracking of financial status of divisions and programs. Work with divisions and program staff on a monthly basis to ensure the accuracy of their financial position from a divisional and programmatic standpoint.
- Reviews government and other grant agreement documents to ensure consistency and accuracy as well as tracking all reporting and other compliance requirements. Responsible for ensuring all reporting requirements are met in a timely way.
- Responsible for quarterly and annual written reports to sponsors on program activities. Ensures all programmatic and financial reports and other deliverables are completed as required.
- Assists Director with review, analysis and projection of annual and mid-year divisional budgets.
- Assists VP executive assistant with payment requests and wire transfers. Ensure all expenses are allowable, allocable and coded properly. Handles monthly wire transfers for Ukraine and Russia overseas offices.
- Provides training and assistance as necessary to program directors and their staff on the use of IIE financial reports.
- Prepares subcontracts and vendor agreements for review by Director and IIE contracts staff. Oversee monthly payments to subcontractors and vendors.
- Complete other duties and support other programs within the division as requested.

Qualifications:
To be considered a candidate for the position, an applicant must have:
- B.A. required, with degree in a relevant field;
- At least 4 years experience, in the area of financial analysis and government grant management;
- Experience in a education, academic or non-profit administration environment;
- Strong financial analysis/planning skills;
- Strong written and oral communication skills essential;
- Operationally competent computer skills (Microsoft Office preferred) and extensive experience with Microsoft Excel.
- Flexibility and team approach in implementing division projects and responsibilities in close collaboration with other division staff;
- Ability to interact cross-culturally and work effectively with sponsors in governmental, non-governmental and corporate sectors;
