The DC Children and Youth Investment Trust Corporation and the Children’s Aid Society Carrera Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention Program are partnering to deliver an exciting and innovative program to help youth develop the desire for a productive future by avoiding pregnancy and making responsible decisions.
We are looking individuals with lots of energy and a sense of creativity to work our 5th grade students in a manner that motivates and engages them to fully experience the summer enrichment camp program. This is a full time position that reports to the Community Organizer.
Essential Duties And Responsibilties:
Participate in pre-service training and orientation prior to the start of the summer program
Assist Mental Health Specialist in planning and facilitating a diverse menu of challenging, high-caliber and fun activities and opportunities for groups of young people
Lead interactive weekly, theme-based groups called "Power Group", that emphasize group work and strength-based approaches to promote healthy dialogue on issues impacting youth, their families, and communities
Escort groups of youth to and from activities
Ensure young people are in their assigned activities
Meet with Community Organizer for supervision and support
Participate in staff meetings, CAS trainings and component-based technical assistance
Experience in school-based settings highly preferred
Req. candidate profile :
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or some college preferred
CPR/ First Aid training desired but not required
Minimum of one year working with school-age youth, ages 11-17 in a school/after-school setting
Bilingual English/Spanish ideal
Familiar with Microsoft Word, Data Entry, and Publisher
