Job description
Job description: Performing Arts Workshop is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping young people develop critical thinking, creative expression, and basic learning skills through the arts.

The Development Director will be responsible for the co-creation and implementation of Performing Arts Workshop’s development strategy.

Major Responsibilities:
  • Research and apply for new funding opportunities (public, foundation, corporate);
  • Submit mid-term and final reports to current funders;
  • Increase the Workshop’s base of individual donors by identifying prospects and cultivating current donors;
  • Assist in the planning and management of major fundraising events;
  • Work with Board committee chairs to set agenda for Fundraising, Marketing and Special Event Committee meetings;
  • Assist in the development and design of agency publications, including print and online versions of the Workshop’s annual report and quarterly newsletter;
  • Represent Performing Arts Workshop in the community.
Req. candidate profile : Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree;
  • 3+ years development or marketing experience;
  • Knowledge of all aspects of fundraising, including proposal writing (public, corporate and foundation), individual giving, special events;
  • Excellent analytical thinking skills, outstanding verbal and written communication skills, computer literacy;
  • Ability to work effectively in a collegial and positive environment with high professional standards and productivity;
  • A self-starter with an ability to operate successfully and with minimal supervision;
  • Experience in working cooperatively with management, staff, donors, and Board of Directors;
  • Knowledge of Bay Area philanthropic community a plus;
  • Commitment to and strong belief in the value of arts education for all Bay Area youth.
