Job description
Job description: This position has the following roles and responsibilities:
  • Serve as the public face of NEXUS and GRT, respond to public inquiries, and represent the organization at NEXUS during open hours by fielding questions and orienting visitors to the Center.
  • Coordinate an internship program that supports the Center through educational content development, the staffing of the showroom and events, and outreach
  • Act as a public educator for internal NEXUS events and tours about green building and the organization. NEXUS’s audience includes building professionals and the general public.
  • Help to train other staff, interns, and volunteers to deliver said presentations
  • Work closely with the NEXUS team on collaborative projects such as the samples library and volunteer integration
  • Manage NEXUS resources including cyberlounge, samples library, resource library, community lounge and café and ensure their upkeep.
  • Provide minimal operations support including office supply upkeep.
Req. candidate profile : Qualifications required:
  • B. A. (major in environmental studies, education, or other related field preferred)
  • At least 2 years relevant work experience
  • Experience managing interns, volunteers, or multiple other staff
  • Experience and love of public education, public speaking, presentations. Comfortable talking with confidence to a wide range of audiences, including architects, facilities managers, homeowners, students, and more.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Belief in the mission of GRT and interest in green building
  • Highly organized, able to juggle multiple projects at once
  • Able to respond promptly to e-mail and phone inquiries
  • Works well closely with others one-on-one and in small groups.

Additional Qualifications:
  • Experience in a developing nonprofit
  • More extensive knowledge/experience with green building
  • LEED Accredited
  • Experience in the retail or service sector
  • Experience starting or running a volunteer program.
