NY foreign owned publishing house specializing in publications for trades is currently seeking a Finance Business Analyst to support financial objectives by overseeing strategic planning, forecasting, and month end processes from a P&L perspective.
Job duties:
Manage strategic, planning, forecasting and month end processes from a P&L perspective, while having an appreciation for the balance sheet impact
Ø Oversee month end close process, including accruals, account reconciliations, account research and insightful commentary
Ø Provide sales and inventory reporting and analysis to upper management both in the US and the UK
Ø Develop a methodology for effectively reporting, forecasting and monitoring the overhead cost centers in the US
Ø Ensure effective reporting and communication with the US finance executive team
Ø Maintain financial controls and ensuring SOX compliance as appropriate to include liaising with group control, external auditors and royalty auditors where required
Ø Manage a direct report to include development, appraisal, and day-to-day management
Req. candidate profile :
Degree in Accounting (CPA preferred)
Ø Minimum of 3 years prior work experience in the accounting area of a publishing firm (trade publications preferred)
Ø Ability to analyze and evaluate financial and statistical data.
Ø Experience in managing one or more direct reports
Ø Experience with process improvement.
Ø Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel (knowledge of SAP, Business Objects, Hyperion, a plus
