Responsibilities:
The Major Gifts Associate is responsible for a broad portfolio of written communications for NPR Development. Position serves as the lead writer for the Major Gifts Office and will create a wide variety of correspondence on behalf of the CEO, President, Vice President for Development, and Major Gifts Officers at NPR. Writing projects will include funding proposals for individuals, collateral materials for proposals, stewardship reports, event or meeting follow-up letters, and speaking points for NPR leadership.

Qualifications:
Position requires a Bachelor's degree and minimum two years of professional experience in business or technical writing, communications, media relations, or research. Candidates must have demonstrated knowledge of business correspondence, marketing materials and reports; outstanding writing, editing and proofreading skills; the ability to easily adapt writing styles to fit various audiences and authors, including NPR senior administrators, staff and volunteers; and knowledge of standard concepts, practices and procedures related to the position, including: expertise in use of English grammar, punctuation, and syntax. Candidates should have strong project management skills; the ability to meet deadlines and oversee multiple projects simultaneously; and the ability to learn specific terminology for use in developing written materials. Must be able to work collaboratively and independently, interacting effectively with a wide variety of people, and be able to motivate colleagues. Candidates should have knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required; and knowledge of and experience in public broadcasting preferred.
