Job description: Responsibilities

  • Provide ongoing financial advice and counsel to the Chief Executive Officer.
  • Supervise and manage the day-to-day operations of the finance department in accordance with accepted accounting procedures and controls. Ensure that all financial transactions are recorded accurately and in a timely fashion.
  • Supervise the preparation and administration of the payroll and oversee administration of the property and liability insurance policies.
  • Prepare monthly financial reports and accounting schedules, as well as special financial schedules and analyses.
  • Help prepare, administer, and monitor the council’s budgets, including all monthly budget reports and analyses and provide staff with financial information needed for the preparation of all foundation and government budget applications and reports.
  • Maintain records and monitor transactions of the investment portfolio account.
  • Supervise year-end closing, prepare all necessary audit schedules, and oversee annual audit.
  • Prepare and distribute all required federal, state, and city tax reports and forms.
  • Perform cash receipting and prepare bank deposits.
Req. candidate profile : Qualifications:

  • Excellent supervisory skills and ability to manage a finance department and staff.
  • Three years’ demonstrated experience in fund accounting and financial administration in a non-profit environment.
  • Extensive knowledge of business operations and procedures in order to facilitate efficient workflow and to make recommendations and implement improvements as needed.
  • Ability to budget, forecast, and manage cash flow as well as analyze financial data.
  • Proficiency with MS Excel and FundWare, along with working knowledge of MS Word and MS Access.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
