The WiLDCOAST Wildlife Conservation Program Manager provides the direction for three projects: Marine Protected Areas “Defiende el Mar” Campaign, Save California’s Leopard Shark Campaign and San Diego Wildlife Education. The manager is responsible for all aspects of program management including program development, implementation and evaluation, grant writing, contract management and staff supervision.
Responsibilities:
- Development of innovative programs with partners in California.
- Coordination of projects including but not limited to scheduling project activities; developing project work plans and budgets with U.S. partners.
- Implementation of projects and campaigns including media relations and communications, coalition building and project analysis.
- Provision of capacity building training to partners in community outreach, environmental education and media strategies.
- Implementation of quality assurance/quality control plan for projects and campaigns.
- Representation of WiLDCOAST in the field for media, donors and potential donors.
- Implementation of duties as assigned for new or emerging projects.
- Resource and liaison to partners, outside agencies, volunteers, media and potential funding sources.
- Internal communications link between staff, media and field operations.
- Administration of programs including, grant writing, contracts/agreements negotiations, fiscal and contractual reports, tracking and data collection.
- Conduct lectures and presentations on wildlife conservation programs.
- Attend and participate in public hearings and stakeholder meetings.

Additional Qualifications:
- Three years experience working on media/program development with a public/community outreach focus.
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree in environmental studies, public policy, marine policy, marine biology, conservation biology, international relations, wildlife conservation or a related field.
- Day, evening and weekend hours required.
- Fluency in English and Spanish required.
- Travel in California 40% of the time.
Desired Experience/Skills:
- Experience working with a variety of people from diverse, socio-economic backgrounds.
- Communication and public speaking including media experience.
- Knowledge of Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook.
- Ability to use Apple computers is required.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Basic understanding of non-profit organization business processes.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, non-profit environment.
- Outgoing, energetic and enthusiastic personality
- Some experience with public speaking
- Some experience with community organizing
- Current passport or visa required for international travel.
