Job description: Responsibilities:
  • Provides services to approximately 350 employees to answer their benefit questions, resolves problems related to access to or payment of benefits, and assists with proper claims filing.
  • Orients and enrolls newly eligible employees, and processes enrollment forms and changes. Tracks employee eligibility waiting periods for retirement and long-term disability.
  • Provides ongoing employee education for all benefit programs.
  • Communicates employees’ paycheck deductions to Payroll Coordinator.
  • Processes employee terminations and notifies third party administrator of COBRA eligibility.
  • Reviews insurance bills for correct adjustments and processes for payment.
  • Prepares and remits monthly payments for staff and building retirement plans and the supplemental retirement plan.
  • Maintains employee benefits data in human resources information systems.
  • Coordinates yearly benefit renewals under Open Enrollment and for transit program.
  • Prepares and communicates information to employees about benefit programs, procedures, and changes.
  • Advises employees on current IRS regulations for contributions to retirement plans. Orders TDA calculations from TIAA-CREF where appropriate. Prepares salary reduction agreements for retirement plans.
  • Schedules and coordinates biannual series of individual retirement counseling sessions with TIAA CREF.
  • Serves as Workers’ Compensation Coordinator. Processes workers’ comp claims, accident reports and accident prevention plans. Works with third party administrator to ensure satisfactory case resolution. Maintains files of all work-related incidents and injuries.
  • Maintains supply of applicable materials, rosters, and enrollment packets.
  • Administers transit expense program.
  • Produces reports of benefit enrollment, benefit deductions, plan participation, and benefit expenses.
  • Acts as HIPAA contact for employee benefit matters.
Req. candidate profile : Additional Qualifications:
  • Three years experience working in Human Resources, at least one year of which is in the Benefits area.
  • Strong computer skills, including excel.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving and time-management skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with employees of all levels.
