The Salem Theatre Company is a nonprofit organization dedicated to enriching the artistic, cultural, and economic life of the Salem community through the performing arts and arts education outreach.
Responsibilities will include:
Oversee all artistic operations.
Read and select scripts and directors for the programming of four mainstage productions in the 7th Season (09/09-08/10), as well as the Staged Reading Series; produce and implement the programming already set for the 6th Season (09/08-08/09) which includes Open Mic Nights, Educational Workshops and the Haunted Happenings Event, Chilling Tales: Aboard the Friendship.
Direct at least one mainstage production as well as one staged reading per season.
Serve as producer for all other mainstage productions, staged readings and events.
Assist directors with appointing designers and technical staff as well as casting when needed for productions.
Program any special events such as outdoor productions and educational workshops.
Procure rights, venues, and appropriate licenses for all programming.
Reporting to the Board of Directors at their monthly meeting as to the status of upcoming and current projects.
Assist the MD with maintaining and ensuring the overall fiscal health and vitality of the organization.
Audience cultivation through survey research, marketing or advertising, and production program creation and ad sales.
Maintain emails, phone messages, P.O. Box and computer and hard-copy files.
Req. candidate profile :
Qualifications preferred:
Experience with community theater or small nonprofits.
Background in directing and theatre.
Passion for the performing arts.
B.A. in arts administration, theatre arts or related field required.
