Provide engineering support for the Thrust Structure design, including creating layout drawing, maintaining current design of Thrust Structure, providing a detailed design of primary and secondary structure, coordinating design inputs with other IPTs (ensure operability, accessibility, etc.) and conducting layout reviews. Provide mass properties inputs to the systems group. Assist in the development of a layout/control drawing for the parametric top-down approach being utilized for the production of CAD models. Provide detail design of primary and secondary structure, including slosh baffles and internal stiffening. Coordinate inputs to the design with other disciplines such as materials, stress, dynamics, manufacturing, thermal, propulsion, safety, etc. Required inputs for this support will be developed in conjunction with MSFC and other members of the project team. It is assumed that this input being developed by other members of the project will be available in a timely manner. Models and analysis will be evaluated for correctness, proper use of applicable equations, etc.
Sketches, drawings, and/or three-dimensional (3D) solid models of design concepts will be developed using ProEngineer, Unigraphics or other CAD software. Designs will be created in accordance with MSFC quality procedure EV32-OWI-001 (Structural Design). Other office automation software will be utilized as appropriate to create the associated design documentation and calculations. This software will include Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and MathCAD. MSFC will schedule all design reviews.

| Job duties: |
BS degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or related field from an ABET accredited institution with a minimum of 5 years applicable experience is required. Skills include ability to model concept designs in three dimensions using ProEngineer CAD software system to produce layout drawings for use by manufacturing, quality control and ground support equipment. Skills also require ability to create technical reports and creation of schedules for follow up of design reviews, System Requirements reviews, and other engineering activities using documents from others. Experience with Microsoft Office is required. Familiarity with the use of PDM systems. The ability to create and manipulate Excel spreadsheets and PowerPoint presentations is required. |
