An important goal of the California and Texas projects is to help high schools and community colleges implement the strongest possible programs first and foremost to benefit students but also to produce the most useful research lessons for policymakers, college administrators, and educators. The Operations Associate/Senior Associate will serve as a liaison to schools and colleges that are participating in the projects to provide them with programmatic support.
Specifically, the successful candidate will:
Participate in selecting schools and colleges to take part in the projects;
Provide technical assistance to schools and colleges to help them design and strengthen their programs;
Help develop and implement evaluation procedures that do not overly disrupt normal operating procedures at the schools and colleges;
Collaborate with researchers to understand program implementation at the schools and colleges;
Describe the projects and write up key findings and lessons in a format that is accessible to policymakers and practitioners;
Make presentations in public meetings and conferences;
Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings with MDRC and CCRC staff; and
Monitor project budgets and report on progress to funders.
Req. candidate profile :
Qualifications:
The candidate should have at least five years of experience managing programs designed to help low-income high school or community college students graduate and make a successful transitions to further education or career opportunities. Prior experience with program evaluation either as a member of a research team or as the manager of a program that underwent a rigorous study is a major plus. The candidate should have a master’s degree or higher in education, public policy, or a related field. The candidate must have good organizational skills and the ability to transfer knowledge to other professionals in high schools and colleges. Hence, strong speaking, writing, and interpersonal skills are required. The position will be based in MDRC’s Oakland office and will require significant travel (approximately five days per month, mostly within California and Texas).
